Scotiabank looks to Improve Mobile Engagement Through Implementation of Loyalty Program Tracking

As the race to make loyalty program enrollment and participation easier continues, Scotiabank has taken another step in improving mobile capabilities and creating a seamless experience for its customers. Through a partnership with Points, customers of the bank can now access balances of 18 loyalty programs, including Cineplex’s SCENE program, which is now available on mobile financial institutions exclusively through the Scotiabank portal.

"It's an exciting time in the financial industry as banks continue to innovate and become more sophisticated in how they enhance the customer experience," said Rob MacLean, CEO at Points. "We're thrilled to leverage our platform and enhance the Scotiabank Mobile Banking app with multi-loyalty program functionality. This partnership speaks highly of Scotiabank's digital-first mindset and their ongoing commitment to providing mobile solutions that meet evolving customer banking and shopping needs."

Scotiabank is consistently at the forefront in offering customers a differentiating mobile experience and was also the first Canadian bank to give customers a mobile wallet option for both debit and credit cards.

The feature is made possible through the Points Loyalty Wallet API, which gives access to loyalty program data like real-time balance and transaction tracking. MacLean continued on to say, “We know that loyalty programs matter to consumers. And by leveraging our industry relationships, Scotiabank can tap into this network of engaged loyalty program members to drive app usage, engagement, and retention.”

Tracking multiple account balances has consistently been a cause of program disengagement, as consumers seek a more convenient approach to their status within preferred brands.
