Choice Hotels Offers Holiday Tier Bump

Choice Hotels International has announced a promotion for guests of Cambira Hotels. Members of the company’s Choice Privileges loyalty program who book two qualifying stays at any Cambira hotel, and who check in by December 31, 2018, will earn Gold Elite Status through 2019. Elite members have access to more rewards than basic members, including exclusive reservation and customer service phone numbers, the option to choose bonus points or a welcome gift at check-in, and a 10 percent elite point bonus.

“We want to treat our more than 37 million Choice Privileges members to gold status as they head into the new year,” says Jamie Russo, Vice President of Loyalty Programs and Customer Engagement at Choice Hotels. “Today’s modern business travelers seek instantaneous perks—which we’re delivering with a chance to upgrade quickly to Gold Elite Status and reap the benefits that come with it.”

eMarketer Projects High Christmas Sales

US Christmas sales are projected to reach $1 trillion for the first time, according to a study from research firm eMarketer. This is an increase of almost 6 percent from 2017. The study comes amid concerns over the future of brick-and-mortar retailers, as Amazon strengthens its grip on the retail space.

The study says that e-commerce will capture 12.3 percent of the total sales figure this year. Online retail sales are predicted to rise 16.6 percent from 2017, up to $123.73 billion. Still, Andrew Lipsman, Principal Analyst at eMarketer, says that “while e-commerce will see strong double-digit gains, brick-and-mortar retail should be a particular bright spot this holiday season.”
