Recently, Tiny House Enterprises, launched its website TinyHousePlans.com, which contains the largest collection of tiny home building plans currently available on the market.
The new website compiles information and resources from a team of experts looking to make it easier for people to embrace the tiny and/or minimalist lifestyle.
Demand for smaller spaces and less material items has increased with the growth of the “minimalist movement” that has occurred in the last few years. Gabriella Morrison, cofounder of Tiny House Enterprises, discussed the impact minimalism has had on the tiny house market.
“The minimalist movement is a response to the saturation of over-consumption and mindless consumerism. We were all promised happiness and fulfillment if we only got x, y, or z. Decades later though, people are waking up to the fact that the accumulation of material possessions brought them farther from contentment and now they’re looking for new channels to joy.
The tiny and minimalist movements have opened new lifestyle options for those wanting a significant life change. It’s an exciting time and seeing so many forge a new path for themselves is inspiring!”
The website provides users with a massive marketplace for finding safe homes within users’ price range.

The idea behind the launch of the new website came about from personal interaction with ‘tiny housers,’ looking for a change of pace and needing a centralized marketplace.
“Our team at TinyHousePlans.com has been steeped in the tiny house movement for many years, not only by living tiny but also by teaching others how to build tiny houses. After interacting with thousands of hopeful tiny housers, we often heard the same frustration: no central place existed for shopping for tiny house plans. And if they found plans they liked, how would they know they were complete and actually safe? Our years of construction and design experience is applied to every single set of plans we consider for inclusion on the site.
Before the launch of TinyHousePlans.com, the process for finding tiny house plans was laborious and time consuming. Though a few sites did offer “tiny house” plans, in actuality, they were poor quality plans for much larger structures. Then, if someone actually DID find tiny house plans, they had no way to know if the plans were safe or not. Since plans are not returnable, it was a big risk and there was often disappointment once plans arrived in hand. Morrison believes, once users see the designs that can be achieved in tiny homes, people will transition their thoughts on the industry from it being a novelty to it being a serious possibility.
“If I had to guess, I would say that the tiny house movement will continue to grow in interest but so will the square footage that people decide to live in. Most people don’t see themselves living in something under 400sf, but they would be really happy in 600-800sf. The effects that the tiny house movement is having on redefining a “home” are significant. Right now, for the vast majority, tiny houses are just a novelty. Once people begin to see great new designs for houses a little bit bigger though, they will actually take the plunge.”
