Raley’s Aims to Improve Customer Experience With Meal Kits

Raley’s has announced a line of chef-created meal kits, including full kits, quick kits, creative kits, sides, and components. According to the Raley’s website, the brand “strives to enhance transparency and education in the food system in order to help customers make more informed, healthy food choices.” The meal kits represent the company’s most recent effort to fulfill that mission.

According to Nielsen, over 50 percent of shoppers want to be able to purchase components separately and build their meal. In addition, an estimated 70 percent of shoppers want to try new recipes and new foods. Consumers are also looking for meal kits that emphasize fresh foods, health, and nutrition.

The meals are seasonally inspired and recipes rotate quarterly. The kits were developed to ensure flexibility and let customers experience fresh cooking. They can either follow the meal kit recipe or explore its components, which means customers can customize their cooking experiences.

“We want to be the destination for our customers looking for a healthy, home cooked meal,” says Chef Evelyn Miliate, Raley’s Culinary Innovation Manager. “Fresh kits are an affordable solution to dinner that customers can trust. The kits include high-quality ingredients and offer great variety so your family doesn’t get bored with the same recipes.”

The meal kits offer four different experiences. Full meal kits come with all items to make a full meal. Quick kits come with pre-cut vegetables and cooked chicken to get dinner on the table fast. Rotisserie sides pair with a grab-and-go rotisserie chicken, which means rapid preparation. Creative kits are flexible, including several different combinations of sauces, starches, and vegetables.

Raley’s has launched the kits to transform the customer experience and to make personalized, healthier options available to customers. Customers can find the new meal kits in-store or online, with an option to pick-up at the store or have them delivered to the home.

Meal kit options include vegetarian curry, chicken with red wine sauce, chicken tarragon, butter chicken, steak with peppercorn sauce, and salmon with cilantro yogurt sauce. The sides range from broccoli parmesan or green beans with parmesan to Mexican style vegetables and Italian style vegetables.
