Walmart names new Chief Merchandising Officer

Scott McCall has been selected as the new chief merchandising officer for Walmart U.S. McCall began his career with Walmart as an hourly management trainee in Grenada, Mississippi more than 25 years ago. He later moved to Bentonville, Arkansas, in an operational role for Walmart before becoming a merchandise buyer. McCall’s merchandising roles have included being a buyer in lawn and garden, vice president in hardware and toys, and senior vice president in consumables, health and wellness, and home. He most recently was the senior vice president for entertainment, toys and seasonal.

 

Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc. Announces New Digital Leadership Team

Sally Beauty recently announced Kevin Metz as VP of Ecommerce and Vanathy Lakshmi as VP of Digital Product. The company previously said it would invest in talent and capabilities in digital commerce as part of a transformation. “We are thrilled to add Kevin and Vanathy to the team to start leveraging their extensive expertise in ecommerce as Sally Beauty continues its digital transformation. They will take us to the next level in our drive for a consumer-driven digital environment that operates seamlessly in partnership with our stores and supply chain,” Chris Brickman, Chief Executive of Sally Beauty Holdings, said in a company release.

 

Cannabis magazine High Times to open retail stores this year

High Times, the publication that advocates for the legalization of cannabis, is planning to get into the business. “Now we're not talking about touching the plant, per se. But the last stages before it reaches a consumer, so delivery, retail, and of course just continuing to connect consumers to the great cannabis brands that are out there,” said the company’s CEO, Stormy Simon, in an interview with Yahoo Finance’s On The Move, outlining the company’s plan to open a few High Times-branded stores this year. “It is time for us to start participating.”

StyleBox, a Service Connecting Fashion Shoppers to Stylists, Launches in Beta

StyleBox, a service that connects online shoppers with professional stylists for help with purchasing decisions, has launched in beta for iOS and Android users. “Personal style is more than the clothes - it's an attitude, a point of view, and a sense of confidence. We believe everybody can benefit from having a personal stylist,” Janet Proger, Founder and CEO, said in a release. A proprietary algorithm will help shoppers find and build relationships with stylists who are in line with their fashion sense. StyleBox says the service has thousands of registered users and more than 100 stylists who have uploaded thousands of styles.

Shipt Announces Same-Day Delivery Partnership with Office Depot, Inc.

Shipt, a membership-based delivery marketplace, announced it is expanding its same-day delivery services with Office Depot. Shipt says same-day delivery from Office Depot and OfficeMax stores is available to its members in more than 200 markets. “Our vision at Shipt is to deliver the products consumers need so that they can spend their time doing what matters most,” Kelly Caruso, CEO of Shipt, said in a release. “With Office Depot, we're now able to serve more people in more ways – from the local business owner, to the schoolteacher, to the work-from-home mom or dad. We're in the midst of an exciting evolution to a multi-vertical, multi-retailer delivery service and are thrilled to have Office Depot as part of the Shipt family.”
