CarFax Expands Customer Service

Carfax has expanded its role in the Nissan and Infiniti Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) programs to boost customer retention at certified dealerships. As part of the program, Nissan and Infiniti CPO buyers now get enrolled in the myCarfax program so they can receive service and recall alerts for their vehicles. Dealerships are also designated as customers’ favorite shops within the myCarfax mobile application. Carfax has seen that myCarfax users are 21 percent more likely to return to their favorite shops for their next service visits and also have their cars serviced more often.

Nissan North America is the first to make customer enrollment in myCarfax part of the CPO purchase process. Service reminders and recall notices sent to the customer through myCarfax enable car owners to keep up with vehicle maintenance. The result is more repeat service business and homegrown vehicles staying with that dealership.

“Our goal with the myCarfax app is to increase the value of our CPO program to our customers, along with allowing us to enhance the overall customer experience,” says Michael Verpoort, Senior Manager of CPO Sales for Nissan.

Through this partnership, Nissan and Infiniti CPO buyers also receive free copies of their vehicle’s Carfax Vehicle History Report and their Carfax Buyback Guarantee certificate from the dealer. Since 2012, certified Nissan and Infiniti dealers have been required to run a Carfax Report on all CPO-eligible vehicles, which must qualify for the Carfax Buyback Guarantee. All Nissan and Infiniti CPO vehicles are also listed for sale with free Carfax Reports on carfax.com.

“For years Carfax has helped build confidence with our customers buying or servicing certified and non-certified cars,” says Jim Conroy, Group Operations Director for Ramsey Auto Group. “People want trusted information they can use to make good decisions. We see more and more people coming back to our service departments because they trust our expert technicians and the data-driven recommendations we give them.”

More than 70 percent of all Nissan and Infiniti dealerships are part of the myCarfax Service Shop program. Maintenance work performed by participating dealers is reported to Carfax and easily accessible through the myCarfax app.

“Nissan’s decision to register their CPO customers with myCarfax helps reduce the cost of car ownership while increasing certified dealer revenues,” says Vern Poyner, General Manager at Carfax. “Well-maintained vehicles tend to last longer and experience fewer costly problems, saving owners money in the long run. Service reminders from myCarfax help ensure more customers return to the same dealer for service, bringing in potentially thousands of dollars in additional service revenue. Plus, our research suggests that regular service customers are nearly twice as likely to buy their next vehicle from the same dealer.”
