AMC A-List Announces Partnership with Fandango and Atom

AMC has announced a partnership with Fandango and Atom, giving members of the new Stubs A-List tier the ability to reserve tickets through both sites. The Stubs A-List program lets customers see three movies a week in exchange for $20 per month, which includes IMAX, Dolby Cinema, and 3D features. A-List members can see all of their three weekly movies in one day, with a two-hour buffer between showtimes. They can also see individual movies more than once. Now, customers will be able to use Fandango and Atom to reserve seats up until the time of the showing.

“The guest feedback and membership sign-up rate have far exceeded our expectations, but we’re constantly looking for ways to provide more opportunities for guest value through A-List,” says AMC Chief Marketing Officer Stephen Colanero. “Expanding the online ticketing availability of AMC Stubs A-List to include our great partners at Fandango and Atom Tickets is keeping with our mission of providing our loyal guests with as much convenience and flexibility as possible.”

Members also have many more benefits, including free upgrades on popcorn and soda, free refills on large popcorn, express service at the box office and concessions stand, no online ticketing fees, and 100 points for every dollar spent at the theatre. They also receive a $5 reward for every 5,000 points earned.

“The Atom Tickets experience is about making it as convenient as possible to buy a ticket to the movies,” says Matthew Bakal, cofounder and chairman of Atom Tickets. “Recognizing A-List membership is one more way we’re doing that and a natural extension of our support for exhibitor loyalty programs. Furthering our integration with AMC Stubs to recognize A-List membership is truly a win for all AMC Stubs members.”

The AMC partnerships with Fandango and Atom come on the heels of the creation of the Stubs A-List tier earlier this year. The tier is the third of AMC’s loyalty program, following the AMC Stubs Insider and AMC Stubs Premiere tiers. It includes all Premiere benefits and the same points-redemption system offered to Stubs Premiere members. Loyalty360 covered the announcement of this tier here.

Seven weeks after the A-List tier became available, AMC announced that more than 1 million movie attendances had occurred through the program. In addition, AMC reported that 260,000 members had enrolled. Loyalty360 covered these developments here.

AMC also recently announced an agreement with Silver Lake, a technology investor. Under the agreement, AMC has issued $600 million in senior unsecured convertible notes, due 2024, bearing interest at 2.95% and convertible into AMC Class A common shares at $20.50 per share.

Adam Aron, AMC CEO and President, says, “We are very excited to welcome a new highly sophisticated investor with a great track record of success. Silver Lake believes in the inherent value of AMC now, and in the likelihood of AMC’s success going forward resulting from our global leadership position and our proven growth strategies. We expect that Silver Lake will add significant value to AMC as it comes into our boardroom, given its longstanding experience and savvy in the technology and media sectors.”
