Pizza Hut Canada Targets Increased Same-Store Sales Growth with Launch of Loyalty Program

After Pizza Hut launched its Hut Rewards loyalty program last year, Pizza Hut Canada has followed suit.
 
Pizza Hut Canada officially launched its Hut Rewards program on Monday. With five consecutive online orders of $10.99 or more, members will receive a free two-topping medium pizza. Pizza Hut has plans to grow and enhance the program and offer its members exclusive incentives throughout the year.
 
Pizza Hut officials believe that Hut Rewards is the fastest way to earn free pizza, creating the most rewarding loyalty program in the category in simplistic fashion.
 
Jason Cassidy, Brand Director of Pizza Hut Canada, talked to Loyalty360 about the factors behind Monday’s launch of the new loyalty program.
 
“For 2018, Pizza Hut Canada has a goal and focus to increase same-store sales growth,” Cassidy explained. “So combining their digital ordering capabilities and loyalty program made complete sense to execute this strategy now. This program is intended to benefit loyal Pizza Hut Canada customers by rewarding them to use the app or order online. Digital ordering is definitely where customers prefer ordering, and a lot of research and competitive analysis can support this.”
 
Cassidy discussed the company’s goals for the program from a customer engagement perspective.
 
“The goal is mainly to increase same-store sales growth, offer more efficient ordering methods digitally vs. phone and walk-in,” Cassidy explained. “Digital-only will definitely improve overall customer experience and delivery efficiency.”
 
And, he added, the overall customer satisfaction should also increase because of the simplicity of the program.
 
“This program is unique because it is very simple,” Cassidy added. “Rather than a points program, it is based off consecutive orders only. It is also available nationwide in all 349 locations across Canada.” 
 
Loyalty programs are deemed key differentiators for marketers that play a vital role in casting a 360-degree framework around the brand.
 
“Since this is the first digital-only loyalty program for Pizza Hut Canada, they want to reach and offer incentives for their loyal customers as effectively as possible. More benefits will be introduced throughout the year, which will give Hut Rewards a growing opportunity to win in the loyalty space.”
