The latest news in the world of customer experience and customer loyalty.

Back With the Old for Snapchat
In 2018, our debates consist of Snapchat layouts and user accessibility. These are the issues at the forefront of everything. For Snapchat users who were fired up about the changes the company made to its app a few months ago, their cries have finally been answered. According to a recent piece in Marketing Land, Snapchat will make users' Snaps and Chats in chronological order again, and Stories from friends are going back to the right side of the app as well. The combination of stories and chat boxes made it extremely difficult for users to use the app at the light speed they had before the updates. Major apps going back to their roots in the name of customer experience is now commonplace, as Instagram began the move back to chronological order of photos a few months ago as well.

Loyalty Programs are Still Thriving
Despite changes made by brands in marketing strategy, loyalty programs are still one of the most effective ways to reach customers and increase engagement. According to Retail Touch Points, “Consumers spend 37% more with brands when they are loyalty program members; 70% of members say they are more likely to recommend brands with good loyalty programs, and 77% say loyalty programs make them more likely to continue doing business with a brand.” Consumers expect more for their loyalty than ever before in today’s market fueled by competition. With a younger generation of consumers expressing decreased loyalty and tolerating less friction in interactions, brands continue to personalize and cater their loyalty programs so that they provide the most benefit to consumers. Interestingly, the five sectors in which loyalty program members outspend other shoppers by the greatest amount are gas/petrol station programs (99%), hotels (82%), drug stores (63%), movie theatres (61%) and grocery stores (57%).

Fruit Chews Have Returned. …What Year Is It?
This summer, most likely between July and August, LEAF Brands officially announced the return of Bonkers! Fruit Chews. The candy, which was widely popular in the 1980s and 1990s, will be returning for the first time in nearly thirty years. The chews were a part of a series of television commercials in the 1980s where one or more characters would take one bite of a Bonkers! Candy, and a giant fruit or bunch of fruit would fall from above and knock them into hysterical laughter. The production of the chews comes as a response to the influx of customers asking the brand to bring back the nostalgic favorite. With seven different flavors to choose from, fans can relive the chews almost exactly as they were thirty years ago.
