Lay Off The Pre-Cut Melons
Remember a few weeks ago when our lettuce was tainted with salmonella? Just when you thought the flavorless food nightmare was over, melons have now come into play. According to The Takeout, the “FDA reports fresh-cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and fresh-cut fruit medley products containing any of these melons,” could be contaminated with salmonella. Sixty people have gotten sick across Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, and Ohio. Pre-cut cantaloupe is particularly susceptible to salmonella as, for some reason, it has had multiple reported cases since 1985. For consumers who love their melons, it looks like they will need to take an extra five minutes out of their day to cut their own fruit over the next month or so.

Meal Kits To The Grocery
Meal kits have increasingly grown in popularity over the last year. Typically, the service, such as Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, etc., sends subscribers “kits” once per week. Subscribers then unpack the kits and use the instructions to create meals out of the ingredients. Today, with the market oversaturated with meal kit providers, some brands are turning towards retailers to increase revenue. Safeway, Kroger, Albertsons, and Walmart have all announced partnerships with various meal kit brands. Users can purchase the kits while grocery shopping if they are looking for prepackaged meals with wholesome ingredients. Users can also buy their ingredients separately since they will be inside of a grocery store… However, as we’ve come to say, to each his own.

Toys R Us On Last Leg
“Everything must go!!!” Remember the days of television commercials with salesmen screaming at us about everything being on sale? It felt like there was an apocalyptic rush towards the stores going out of business in order to get that new product for 50 percent off. For the final days of Toys R Us, their liquidation sale includes items for 50-70 percent off. The brand will have 98 percent of its stores closed by the end of June and all of them completely gone by the end of July. For the next few weeks, customers can get heavily discounted items within all of the stores. The catch? The typical high demand items have already been picked over and bought by customers. However, “Lego sets, board games, Barbie dolls, Star Wars toys, and Nerf guns” are still widely available.
