BMW Launches Car-Sharing Subsidiary

Competing with Uber is a daunting task, one of which BMW is up for in its Seattle market. ReachNow, the ride sharing app under BMW, will attempt to compete directly with Uber and Lyft. The service is roughly $2.40 per mile, which is not necessarily the cheapest in the market. To combat this, ReachNow will be including small perks for users. Some of these perks include, “the ability to request a specific temperature, radio station, or flag that the ride should be quiet.” While these perks are nice for consumers, the main difference between ReachNow and its competitors is on the driver’s side of things. Drivers “are paid $14.25 per hour and have set shifts, will be eligible for benefits, and can even bring in a 5 percent bonus each week if their rating stays between 4.8 and 5 stars.” With Uber and Lyft, it is about making as many trips as possible in order to make as much money as possible. With ReachNow, it is about quality over quantity. Drivers also use ReachNow’s cars to save them gas and time. There’s no guarantee the service will branch out from Seattle. Everything is solely dependent on whether or not it gains traction within the pacific coast market.

Singapore Airlines Voted Best in the World

Singapore Airlines has been voted the top airline in the world, according to Skytrax’s World Airline Award. This is the 23rd year in a row Singapore Airlines has made it onto the award list, and the fourth time sitting at the top of it. The results are impressive when considering the 335 airlines that are voted on by award respondents. The additional laundry list of awards that Singapore Airlines received includes: “the best first class lounge and the business class lounge in Asia, the best first class and the best business class in Asia, the best premium economy class in Asia, and the world’s best first class and the world's best first class seat less than a year after it launched its new first class suites.” A side note worth mentioning is not a single US airline made the list.
