Folgers Blends Iconic Name with New Brew to Target Younger Coffee Drinkers
The best part of waking up is…well, there isn’t a best part. Sleeping in is better. But Folgers, who has long insisted that “The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup,” is taking aim at younger coffee drinkers with a new high-end brand it’s calling 1850—the year the brand was created. J.M. Smucker Co., which owns Folgers, did extensive research and found out what younger coffee drinkers prefer and mixed the brew to match their tastes. It also will offer it in K-cups, something the brand currently doesn’t offer, according to an article in The Wall Street Journal. Single-cup containers are the fastest growing segment in the coffee industry. The 1850 coffee is a bit more expensive, but what’s the price of satisfying customers. Plus, think of the marketing possibility: Now they can say the best part of waking up is 1850 in your K-cup.
Guess Co-founder Steps Aside During Sexual Misconduct Investigation
Paul Marciano, who co-founded Guess with his brother in 1981, is relinquishing his daily responsibilities at the clothing company until a sexual misconduct investigation is completed. According to an article in USA Today, model and actress Kate Upton told Time magazine earlier this month that Marciano forcibly grabbed her breasts during a Guess photo shoot nearly eight years ago. She also says that he harassed her by showing up at hotels she was staying at and texting her inappropriate comments. Marciano has denied the allegations. Upton, 25, is married to Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.

We wrote an article last September after DataCandy earned recognition for its loyalty program work with small and mid-scale companies.
