Company to offer and seek employee recognition tips and inspiring stories, highlighted by “stories of recognition” and “Globoforce recognition tip of the day”

Southborough, Mass and Dublin, Ireland / February 26, 2010— Globoforce, the world’s leading provider of global, strategic on-demand employee recognition solutions, today called upon managers and employees to make a “recognition resolution” starting on March 5, National Employee Appreciation Day. In honor of the day and to foster greater awareness of the need for year-round employee recognition, the Company also announced new programs that offer and encourage advice and inspiring stories of recognition and appreciation.

Employee Appreciation Day falls amid a challenging time for the global workforce. Faced with continued fears of layoffs, salary/pay freezes, longer hours, and fewer resources than ever before, employees are dissatisfied and disengaged. According to a recent report by the Conference Board, only 45 percent of people are satisfied with their jobs (down from 52 percent in 2005 and 61.1 percent in 1987). Due to these alarming facts, Globoforce is encouraging all managers and employees to make a “recognition resolution” in 2010. Similar to a New Year’s resolution where an individual makes a commitment to a lifestyle change, a “recognition resolution” is a commitment to make a “workstyle” change by recognizing and appreciating employees’ achievements and contributions throughout the year.

“While it’s fantastic to see a day illuminating employee appreciation, this day should not be used as simply a celebration. Rather, it should be a day of awareness of an important issue facing today’s workforce and a critical strategy gap that may mean the difference between positive and negative growth for Global 2000 companies,” said Derek Irvine, Head of Strategic Consulting and CMO, Globoforce. “Just as New Year’s Day serves as a day to jumpstart a change in habits, we’d like to make Employee Appreciation Day the kickoff point for a collective commitment to recognize and appreciate employees year-round and see firsthand the impact that a recognition strategy can have on business results.”
